Kurz der Hintergrund: Nicht nur als Contester und DXer interessierten mich schon seit längerem die Software-Entwicklungen für Logging- , CW-Dekodierungs- und Digi-Mode-Programme, sondern auch vor meinem beruflichen Hintergrund als Ingenieur wollte ich in die Technik zurückfinden. Mein Leben verbrachte ich jahrzehntelang im Management, weg von der Technik, ja geradezu Stillstand im AFU.
Mit dem Einstieg bei L05 in 2007 fand ich gute Lehrmeister, wie z.B. Günter, DK9ETM, der mit viel Geduld mir den Zugang zur IT-Technik ermöglichte. Mit Geräte- und Taskmanager assoziierte ich moderne Personalmagementmethoden, Ports und CAT hatte ich zwar mal gehört, sie zu installieren und PCs, Stationen in Netzwerke zu verknüpfen, waren doch schon ziemlich große Hürden.
Sehr schnell fand ich den Weg zur SDR-Anwendung mit den Flex-Geräten. Zuerst vor ca. 6 Jahren der Flex 5000 und dann die nächste Entwicklungsstufe, der Flex 6700 mit einer unendlichen Vielzahl an Anwendungsmöglichkeiten.
Nach Jahren des Experimentieren mit allen Tiefen und Höhen, Notrufen und verzweifelten Google-Recherchen bin ich immer wieder auf sehr hilfreiche OM gestoßen.
Auf der Suche nach einer Remote-Steuerung, um bei meinen diversen Reisen und von den verschiedenen Lebensorten aus , die eigene Station aus der Fernrne zu betreiben, hatte schon lange einen besonderen Reiz und den Anspruch, flexibel möglichst von jedem Ort aus QRV zu sein...und dann auch noch in HighSpeed CW.
Bei der Suche nach Lösungen traf ich dann auch Marcus, DL8MRE, der mir bei der Installation eines VPN-Zugangs mit Softether für die Remote-Steuerung meines Flex 6700 behilflich war. Seit 10 Jahren leben wir nur einen "Steinwurf" voneinander entfernt, dank Bernd, DL9BBE, würde ich auf Marcus aufmerksam.
Bei der Gelegenheit im Herbst 2015 lernte Marcus bei mir den Flex6700 kennen, dabei entstand seine Begeisterung als App-Software-Entwickler eine eigene Apple-App für IPad und IPhone zu entwickeln. Dies bekam noch einen besonderen Aufwind als der IOS- App-Entwickler K6TU behauptete, dass man mit einer App kein CW machen könne.
Weit gefehlt, Marcus hat es geschafft und zwar in einer so kurzen Zeit, dass die Flex-Software-Entwickler in Austin Texas/USA es erst nicht glauben konnten.
Also flog Marcus jetzt kurzerhand nach Austin in die Flex-Software-Schmiede, wo das wohl ambitionierteste Software-Produkt im AFU-Bereich entstanden ist und gepflegt sowie weiter entwickelt wird.
Die Flex-Ansprüche an Qualität und Funktionalität sind sehr hoch, ein breites weltweites Netzwerk von sog. Alphatestern testen alle neuen Updates auf Herz und Nieren, bevor es für die Anwender freigegeben wird.
Ich habe seit ca. 2Jahren das Glück in diesem Netzwerk dabei zu sein und durch die ständige Kommunikation mit den Gruppenmitgliedern, vor allem aus den USA und Canada, in die Tiefen der Entwicklungen immer weiter einzutauchen. Vor allem teste ich stets die Software-Applikationen, um in der Verknüpfung mit Flex-SmartSDR die unendlichen Möglichkeiten im AFU, ob CW-, Digi-Modes, WSJT...oder div. Loggingprogramme etc. auf Bugs und Funktionalität zu überprüfen. Dass ich dabei sehr viel lernen muß, ist ein weiterer Zweck meiner Beteiligung.
Wohlwissend, dass lernen im wesentlichen eine Frage der Motivation und nicht des Alters ist!
Auch konnte ich als Alpha-Tester für die Apple-App von Marcus viele Erfahrungen als Contester und DXer in die Gestaltung der DL8MRE-App einbringen.
Natürlich wurde Marcus nach kurzer Zeit der Zusammenarbeit mit Flex-EU als Alpha-Tester in das weltweite Flex-Netzwerk berufen.
In Austin konnte Marcus jetzt einen Vertrag mit FlexRadio abschließen, durch den seine IOS-App als FlexApp den "Ritterschlag" bekommen hat. Eine Auszeichnung, die man sicherlich wirklich nur verstehen kann, wenn man diese Szene kennt.
Wir dürfen im OV/ARCE stolz und froh darüber sein, welches Potential wir hier Vorort mit ihm haben. Sein IT-Vortrag im OV hat uns ja alle geradezu begeistert
Inzwischen wächst unsere SDR-/Flex-L05-Gruppe, neben Flex-Anwendern gibt es weitere Mitglieder, die sich mit dieser Technologie intensiv beschäftigen. Lima-SDR war ein Einstieg, jetzt kommt es auf die tägliche Anwendung im Funkbetrieb an.
Gottseidank führen wir keine Glaubenskriege, sondern jeder Schritt in Richtung SDR erhöht die Kompetenz im OV . Die alte Analogtechnik wird auch weiterhin funktionieren, keine Frage, aber diejenigen Gerätehersteller, die sich nicht der SDR-Technologie zuwenden, werden in kurzer Zeit deutliche Marktchancen vertun. Denn diese Technologie bringt Vorteile, die kein noch so teurer mit vielen Mischstufen aufgepeitschte Transceiver bringen kann, dazu gehören frei sein von eigenen Mischprodukten und ein Großsignalverhalten durch das Direct-Sampling, welches man mit analogen Eingangskreisen nie erreichen kann. Selektion, DSP mit APS, WNB...und was es alles so gibt, werden in wenigen Jahren Entscheidungskriterien sein, die man vor dem Kauf eines neuen Gerätes beachten sollte.
Wie in jedem Produktbereich gibt es auch hier die Klassenunterschiede wie z.B. im Automobilsektor zwischen 12- oder 6-Zylinder Karossen zu den gelben kleinen Fiat-Pandas ...
So kann heute schon jeder für seinen Anspruch und Geldbeutel am technologischen Fortschritt teilhaben, dabei können wir voneinander lernen. Voraussetzung bleibt auch hierbei, dass das Funken auf den Bändern und die Funktechnik das zentrale Herzstück unseres Hobbys bleibt und nicht darüberlabern...wie es in einigen wenigen Runden immer wieder zu beobachten ist.
Das sind unsere Ziele in der SDR-/Flex-Gruppe.

Full and Remote Control
SmartSDR for iOS can almost fully replace SmartSDR for Windows® and most of its features can now be used from your mobile device without the necessity to use a PC. You can operate in any mode, such as SSB or even CWX including sidetone.

In addition, the application can run along with programs on your PC such as N1MM or CW Skimmer or even along with SmartSDR for Windows as Remote Control.
Extras
On top of that, SmartSDR for iOS offers a visual Band plan and DX-Cluster integration. Band limits, modes and DX-Cluster spots will be displayed right inside the panadapter.

SmartSDR for iOS supports multi-tasking on newer iPads so it can run side-by-side and concurrently with any other app on your device.

To run SmartSDR for iOS the operator will need a FLEX-6000 series radio, an Apple device such as an iPad®, iPhone® or iPod® Touch running iOS 9.0 or greater. A newer iPad (3, Air 1 or newer) or iPhone (5s or better) is recommended.
To run this app at your home, nothing else but a regular Wi-Fi connection is needed. You can immediately start using the app.
To run the app and to operate your FLEX-6000 series radio from outside your shack, you need to have a VPN connection to your home network.
